Ranges throughout the coast. Mating occurs off Natal and young are born in eastern Cape (Ref. 6586). Common in warm waters of the east coast. Stock locally depressed, overall stable; vulnerable to shark nets; caught by shore anglers (Ref. 4332). No commercial importance (Ref. 12484). Also Ref. 247, 13568, 43278.
